America wastes more energy than any other country. With environmental matters such as pollution and the depletion of the ozone layer, we should be really aware of just how much energy we use.(See Useful Write-up: Simply Click Over Here)
Here, we are going to discuss just a few things you can do to help conserve energy and also save some money every day. These things are really easy to do that any person can do them; all the same, you will have to take action for it to work and doing so you will help save our planet.
Simply switching off the lights whenever you exit a room in your home is one of the easiest things you can do to save electrical energy. Many of us probably temporarily leave the living room lights switched on when we go to the kitchen to prepare some food because we think we are returning soon. If you do this even for only a couple of times each day, that is approximately 30 minutes of wasted power for only this one light. While it may not appear like much, the unfortunate truth is millions of people are doing the exact same thing every day. If you total the minutes for the year, that would be roughly 182 hours of electrical energy just for one light in one room for each individual that does this. Let’s suppose we squander roughly 182 hours of electrical energy per year and we multiply that by one million people. The amount adds up to a staggering 182 million hours of consumed energy that is basically coming from one single room in each person’s house. One more thing that is causing electricity to be wasted is the habit a lot of people have of entering a room and turning the lights on. It’s something many people do automatically. I realize I am guilty of doing this quite frequently. The problem is that even during daytime when you don’t require the light because you’re getting more than enough sunlight to light up the room. But most people still walk in a room and turn the lights on. And aside from that, because of the natural light coming in, we tend to forget we switched the room light on in the first place and leave it on for the rest of the day. You simply need to make a conscious effort to not turn the lights on during the day unless you need light.
Another huge problem is people leaving things like television and radios turned on the entire day even if they are not in the same room. When I go visit my mom, I have to remind her to switch the television off since she would leave it running even though she’s not watching. Just imagine the amount of electricity being wasted. Therefore, if you are not watching the telly, only switch it off. These are simply a few easy things that can be done daily to help conserve power and to help save the environment by doing so. It doesn’t take much to do what we explained but if each person does it, regardless how little it may seem, it will have a huge positive consequence.
